Experience is the one that sets you apart from others

Experience is the one that sets you apart from others

Isn’t this sentence true? Experience is the one that sets you apart from others

I was watching an interview today and this sentence just stuck in my head, which inspired me to write this piece.

“Life is all about experience and each of us are differentiated based on the experience we have gained”

Your experience and memory is unique and beautiful to you, one can only feel it when gone through the journey of failures and successes together.

While we are trying to transform towards the next generation mindset and change our attitude towards our work, passion, solving problems and of course the way we are trying to work, live and play.

All of these are so unique to each other and we are able to solve issues and concerns every time due to the vast amount of energy and experience we have gained throughout the years.

It could be a sport, a passion or why not your own day-to-day work.

Your unique expertise is something that makes you set apart from the rest of the crowd, don’t you think so?

In 2022, we must/should aim towards

  • Consistently Identifying the areas of improvement,
  • learning new skills and building contacts/mentors who can help/guide
  • find solutions to previously unsolved challenges
  • Build a positive continued mindset from the lessons learnt
  • Cherish the Present and enjoy the experience- this is something I love to focus as I always think of what’s next rather enjoying the moment at times.

Based on the Theorizing the Process of Managing

https://www.pmi.org/learning/library/managing-unexpected-events-change-development-8303

According to Vaill (1989), the process of managing is “a rather mind-boggling phenomenon to try to theorize about… [partly because] intelligence, experience, and skill are being exercised, albeit in ways that we hardly know how to perceive, let alone describe.” It’s not surprising therefore, says Vaill, that the classical management process is substituted, it’s so much easier to talk about “management” than “managing” and so much easier to write about!

Peter B. Vaill

I just loved the above sentence which mentions that “it’s so much easier to talk about management than managing itself.“

This is so true and I totally agree, no matter how well we plan there is a high chance while execution there is a lot of changes towards people, processes and even the environment, which could disrupt in some way.

He also goes ahead and says that “The proper name for what we are talking about is not management and leadership, but “managerial leadership.” … leading and the managing cannot be separated.

All my career being an Operations/Project Manager, I have tried my very best to gain experience or learn new skills in the projects and people I deal with.

The experience has been a big drive for me to pursue my next set of goals and dreams. Hence I do believe that Experience is the one that sets you apart from others.

Conclusion

To sum up, enjoy the present moment, learn from it, and treasure the experience or exposure you get. It might be any job; everything you do is an experience that will undoubtedly lead or even nourish you, particularly through difficult times.

The first few years of your job, in particular, will define you.

So, give it all the best you can, learn as much as you can, and earn/learn the experience.

Feel free to share a pleasant experience you’ll never forget or something you’re really proud of.
